Our distant learning courses are available for continuing education credit for addiction counselors, as set forth by the Michigan Certification Board for Addiction Professionals.
With the exception of the CCS certification, all Michigan Certification’s require 20 credits per year to renew a license and all of those courses may be taken online. The CCS requires 6 credits specific to CCS domains.
CAADC: 186 contact hours required. 130 contact hours may be earned through distant learning. All 186 contact hours must be specific to substance abuse; at least six (6) contact hours must be ethics. Key words in course titles are: substance abuse, substance use disorder, drug addiction, chemical dependency, alcohol, tobacco, drug use, or co-occurring disorders. General courses in clinical theory and therapeutic methods will not count if not specific to SUD specialty services.
RENEWAL: Individuals who are renewing must complete sixty (60) hours of continuing education when holding a three (3) year certification or forty (40) hours of continuing education when holding a two (2) year certification or twenty (20) hours of approved continuing education training is required for a one (1) year certification period, since the beginning of your previous certification period. Content must be related to the performance domains of the credential that is being renewed. (Please check with MCBAP for specific requirements)
CADC: 300 contact hours required. 200 contact hours may be earned through distant learning. At least (180) of the contact hours must be specific to substance abuse and the remaining (120) of the contact hours may be related to substance abuse; at least six (6) contact hours must be ethics. Please check the MCBAP certification page for course category recommendations.
CCS: 30 contact hours in clinical supervision (with a minimum of 4 hours of MCBAP approved training in each of the following Performance Domains)

4. Performance Evaluation & Administration
CPS: 120 hours of education in ATOD prevention. 90 contact hours may be earned through distant learning. At least (24) of the contact hours must be specific to SUD Prevention and the remaining (96) of the contact hours may be related to ATOD Prevention; at least six (6) contact hours Prevention Ethics training.
CPC-R: 240 hours of education in ATOD prevention. 180 contact hours may be earned through distant learning. At least (48) of the contact hours must be specific to SUD Prevention and the remaining (192) of the contact hours may be related to SUD Prevention; at least six (6) contact hours of Prevention Ethics training.
Addiction Counselor CE is a service of CE Learning Systems LLC. CE Learning Systems is approved to offer continuing educations courses by MCBAP, NAADAC and many ICRC certification boards. CE Learning Systems LLC maintains responsibility for the courses.

Certified Clinical Supervisor(CCS) renewal, 6.00 CE credit hours
CCS Renewal Information:
Individuals renewing the CCS certification must submit the appropriate contact hours (20 for Annual or 40 for Biennial) to renew their CAC-II certification, as well as six (6) contact hours relevant to the Clinical Supervision Performance Domains, which may be included in the CAC-II hours.
