About the Course:
This course has been designed to familiarize the participant with the variety of utilizations and applications of this quick-reference field guide. The course participant will receive a user-friendly, cross-referenced, pragmatic reference guide to a variety of psychological maladies that are encountered by those delivering services in a variety of settings. The field guide furnishes the tools and information that can enhance service delivery through successful assessment, intervention and reporting of a host of issues. With information on a number of quality assessment tools, descriptions of psychological emergencies, psychotropic medications and medication interactions, drugs of abuse and reporting strategies, the participant will have access to vital information and intervention strategies that will allow them to render a higher standard of care. The course provides foundational knowledge in the area of psychological emergencies.
Jeff Thomas, Psy.D.; Joseph S. Woodall, Ph.D.
About the Author:
Dr. Thomas holds a Doctor of Psychology degree from the University of Northern Colorado. His clinical specialties include the treatment of children, adolescents, and their families. His expertise includes problems of attention-deficit disorders, disruptive behavior disorders, learning disabilities, depression and suicide, substance abuse, and juvenile gang involvement. Dr. Thomas is also recognized internationally as an expert in the area of youth firesetting and arson. He is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at Arizona State University.
Dr. Woodall, a retired fire deparmtent captain and EMT, holds a Ph.D. in Human and Organizational Systems, M.Ed., and an M.A. in Professional Counseling. He is a North Carolina Certified Counselor and a National Certified Counselor working primarily in the area of emergency worker stress. Joe is curently serving as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
