About the Course:

This course adopts a program perspective to examine both outpatient and residential settings for treating clients with co-occurring disorders, highlighting promising treatment models that have emerged both within the substance abuse field and elsewhere. It discusses various treatment approaches and models available to those working in substance abuse settings. Course materials are from Chapter 9, found on pages 249-254 of pdf document (pages 274-279 if using Adobe toolbar page finder).

This course is based on the reading-based online, Substance-Induced Disorders (TIP 42, Ch. 9): Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons With Co-Occurring Disorders created by SAMHSA in 2005.

  3. Identify the substance-induced mental disorders defined by the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
