About the Course:

Intensive Outpatient Treatment and the Continuum of Care (TIP 47, Chapter 3): Substance Abuse: Clinical Issues in Intensive Outpatient Treatment situates intensive outpatient treatment (IOT) within the framework of the American Society of Addiction Medicine’s (ASAM’s) levels of care and discusses goals, intensity and duration of treatment, treatment settings, and stages for Level I and Level II care. This chapter also explains IOT as both an entry point for substance abuse treatment and a step-up or step-down level of care for clients and addresses the importance of transitioning clients to continuing community care.
